About Us

The North Dakota Motor Carriers Association was incorporated in 1934 and was formed to bring awareness for increased highway safety as well as public education on the importance and value of commercial vehicle transportation.

The Association has 250+ members and is involved in legislative representation, government relations and other highway safety programs.

The North Dakota Motor Carriers Association is a statewide, non-profit, association of trucking companies, private fleet operators, industry suppliers, and other firms and individuals interested in the well-being of motor transportation at the local, state and national level.

We are an association owned and operated by its members for their mutual benefit, governed by a board of directors elected from the general membership. We provide programs and activities specifically designed to assist members in finding solutions to day-to-day and long range problems and needs.

The mission of the NDMCA is "To Promote Highway Safety, Deliver Services and Provide Representation for Our Members" by:

  • Promoting safety and security on our highways and among our drivers;
  • Advancing the trucking industry’s image;
  • Providing educational programs;
  • Influencing in a positive manner state governmental actions; and
  • Promoting a healthy business environment in our state

Trucks transport the "tangible" goods portion of the economy, which is nearly everything consumed by households and businesses. In North Dakota , nearly everything we use is transported by truck including agriculture commodities, livestock, building materials, food, oil, coal and other industrial products.

Essentially every good consumed in North Dakota is put on a truck at some point. Over 46% of communities depend exclusively on trucks to move their goods. In addition trucks transport 70% of total manufactured tonnage in the state.

Safety

The NDMCA and our members have a strong commitment to highway and driver safety and to ensuring regulatory compliance. Coordination with regulatory organizations and frequent safety education opportunities keep members informed of rapidly changing laws affecting the trucking industry. Through our outreach to the North Dakota legislature, NDMCA highlights the importance of continuing investments in state roads and highways to ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for all.
